Hello JB,

I wrote: “If the thought of going homeless for a while excites you even a little:” fully aware that it does not excite everyone. I did not do it because my life fell apart; I did it because I knew that if I didn’t seize that opportunity, it would never come around again. It was an exciting choice and I am thankful for that. (My life had properly “fallen apart”, as it needed to, a few years back already).

If your idea of being fine is not becoming unsettled, then this article is not for you. My idea of being fine is never getting too comfortable, lest I forget how brief life is, and how much there is to learn, to explore and discover.

And for those (the vast majority) for whom such an experience is a terrible idea, I suggest a week out in the wilderness. A reset, even of that simple kind, is able to produce catalyses in our lives that we just aren’t able to envision. And that, I wish on everyone who is able to do it, whether they feel like it or not.

I have a great interest in the intersection of psychology, philosophy, religion, social structures of power, and fear: the bait that catches us everywhere.
